Week 6
"As a member of the Godhead, and being one with the Father and the Son, the Holy Ghost is, as are the Father and the Son, omniscient. He comprehends all truth having a knowledge of [all] things (D&C 93:24)" Marion G. Romney, "The Holy Ghost," Ensign, May 1974. p. 90)
"[The Holy Ghost] is the Comforter, Testator, Revelator, Sanctifier, Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit of Promise, Spirit of Truth, Spirit of the Lord, and Messenger of the Father and the Son, and his companionship is the greatest gift that mortal man can enjoy." (Bruce R. mcConkie, Mormon doctrine, p. 359).

The question "What is the difference between the light of Christ and the Holy Ghost?" is still a little confusing to me. I googled it and found an LDS blogger who I think explained it pretty well: http://lds-musings.blogspot.com/2007/03/light-of-christ-and-holy-ghost.html.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the reference he mentioned in the D&C 88:11-13,7 it made more sense. I learned that the light of Christ is the very thing that gives all living things their life and it gives us our sense of right and wrong. While the Holy Ghost teaches and testifies of truth.
One of my very favorite scriptures is about the role of the Holy Ghost. It says that once we receive Him (after we are baptized,) He will show unto us all things what we should do (2 Nephi 32:5). I love that, because I sometimes feel my frailty and smallness when I am in a difficult situation. In those times, I am grateful to know that I can "feast upon the words of Christ" (2 Nephi 32:3) which prepares my mind for revelation--get on my knees and ask for guidance. Soft impressions come to my mind often at this point on how to best proceed. Good fruits have come in these situations. And that is a witness to me that the Holy Ghost has responded to my prayers. Such a precious gift.
Today I really enjoyed studying Moses 6:51-68. I found this reference in the Bible Dictionary under Holy Ghost. I have always loved verses 59-60 in particular because they help me understand sanctification and justification.
